Volunteer Registration Process

If you are interested in getting involved as a volunteer and want more information on how you can contribute, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 613-860-6184 or by e-mail at volunteer_coord@ottawaspecialolympics.org.  You may additionally download the registration package below, and go through the process outlined in the steps below to submit both your registration forms as well as your police check.

The following steps will show you how to apply as a volunteer with Ottawa Special Olympics:

Step 1

Contact the Volunteer Coordinator using the information above and provide a clear message, with your name, address, and phone number.  The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to discuss current volunteer opportunities and confirm which program you will be joining.

Step 2

- Volunteer Registration Form
- Police Records Check (including vulnerable sector search)

Note: In the registration form please include two non-family references and don’t forget to sign it!

Step 3

Once you complete the forms, contact the Volunteer Coordinator so an official letter from our organization can be provided to you in order to waive the fee for your Police Records Check.

Step 4

Visit your local Ottawa Police station to process your Police Records Check.
Note: Don’t forget your official letter to waive your fees (we can not reimburse funds) and the completed Police Records Check Form.

Step 5

Once you receive the Police Records Check , please forward the original copy to our local mailing address along with the Volunteer Registration Form to:

Step 6

Once forms are received by the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be connected with the Head Coach of the appropriate program(s).

Step 7

Start coaching and don’t forget to have fun!!
